I heard that Calgary uses sand on the road instead of salt what do you all think about this and there is a man that invented a product eatured on the Dragonden, suppose to be very eco.

In Tn. we use a liquid salt brine before the snow, although we don't get much snow. Weather man is usually wrong and they spray the salt brine at the slightest chance of snow. I personally think it's a waste of tax payers dollars:( I always wash my car after all the salt brine is off the road!

Some states in the USA use both salt and sand

I went to get my oil changed at Nissan and they said where are you from because you have alot of rot under the car..MASS and now i live here they get alot of snow therefore they use alot of salt and sand..now here in Myrtle Beach just as long as it does not flood i will be okay....

I'm not quite sure what they use (besides rock salt) since it's occassionally blue, blue-green, tan (that's likely sand) and sometimes black (cinders??)

if the sand will work in all cases use the sand because of rust from salt

Sand seems to work better than salt if snow still lingers on the surfaces.

sand is beter then salt. salt rust out cars and truck so they do not last as long
